Director's statement:
The original idea came from Manuela Romero, and from the start, I was drawn to the challenge of directing a story centered on women twice my age. It intrigued and intimidated me in equal measure. Stories about women in this demographic are still far too rare. They're often boxed into roles as mothers, grandmothers, or, occasionally, psychotic villains. This project offered something different: the chance to portray women of certain age with nuance, complexity, and emotional honesty. After all, turning sixty doesn’t mean you suddenly have everything figured out. Our fears and longings, our dreams and insecurities, they evolve, but they don’t disappear. This film gave me the opportunity to explore the emotional lives of women as they age, and to honor the fact that their stories are still unfolding, still rich with possibility.
